Acoustics Engineer

Field measurement campaigns, vibro-acoustics, predictive models for ANC systems

Who we are

Purilian is a Florence based deep-tech company that designs, builds and installs active noise cancellation (ANC) systems for industry: stacks, ducts, ventilation plants and machinery in large production facilities across Europe and the United States. Algorithms, electronics and mechanics are developed in-house, from the acoustic model to the installation in the field.

The role

Acoustics is the starting point of every project: before building anything we measure the source and predict the result. We are looking for the person who will take ownership of this phase: site visits and measurement campaigns at client plants, data analysis, predictive models, final verification of performance at the receiver.

You will work on industrial acoustics projects for clients that lead their sectors, in Europe and in America: real sources, measurements inside the plants and results that are verified with a sound level meter. It is the right role if you like to travel and to see your work installed and running, not only in a report.

What you will work on

• Field measurement campaigns at industrial plants: spectra, levels, operating conditions of the sources.
• Analysis of low-frequency tonal sources: fans, stacks, compressors, transformers.
• Predictive acoustic models, analytical and FEM, to estimate the achievable reduction before construction.
• Before and after verification with standard methods, and technical reports for clients.
• Support to design: microphone and loudspeaker placement, duct and stack geometries.
• Writing of first-phase technical proposals: from the measurement campaign to the offer that reaches the client.
• Technical follow-up of negotiations together with the founder: additional data, clarifications, discussions with the client’s engineers.
• Planned travel to clients in Europe and in America.

What we look for

• Qualification as a competent acoustician under Italian law (tecnico competente in acustica, ENTECA register).
• A degree in engineering, physics or acoustics, or equivalent preparation.
• Experience with acoustic or vibro-acoustic field measurements with professional instrumentation.
• Command of signal analysis: FFT, narrow-band and third-octave spectra, coherence.
• Clear technical reports and proposals, in Italian and in English: here writing counts as much as measuring.
• Working technical English.

Nice to have

• FEM simulation in acoustics (modal analysis, propagation in ducts).
• Software for data analysis.
• Experience with environmental noise and noise impact assessments.
